Championship Wrestling from Memphis 1979

This one is a little different than some others in that these 1979 listings are mostly based on one set. A few years back a site called 70'sTV.com, which specializes in public domain footage, released a set of surviving moments from Memphis' 1979 broadcasts. Unlike other years this one is mostly broken up by discs. As always, all VTR matches are from the Memphis Mid South Coliseum unless otherwise noted. The last few listings in the year are more the typical format with the WMC airdate first followed by the syndicated date in (parenthesis).

With each passing moment Lance Russell becomes more and more exasperated. Finally, Lance rings the bell to break up the party and start the referee counting.

Lawler says he'll sign the 1979 contract if he loses to Ken Lucas this week but if Lawler wins he wants Jarrett to sign his 1980 contract. Jarrett says no thanks and the King promises to show up for the main event anyway.

Valiant starts to mock Lawler's wife and it just bulids and builds until a fight breaks out. I love these Memphis angles where a guy goes heel just by running his mouth. Dundee was great at these too.

He KOs the King and goes after Jimmy Hart but Lawler pulls a second chain for the pin. Hart then jumps Lucas and pounds on him. A fan then jumps the rail and goes after Hart. Jerry Jarrett tries to calm things down but Lawler pounds on him. Finally Jarrett and Lucas make comebacks and the heels head for higher ground.
